Why 10 albums in 10 years?
Simply because the goal is audacious! But there’s more to it that than. I’ve heard it said that people overestimate what they can do in 1 year but underestimate what they can do in 10 years. So, I wanted to put that to the test.
I’ve never been one to set long term goals. I admire people who early in their lives (or at least earlier than me at my current age) had a big goal in mind and the focus to go after it. It wasn’t until 2020 that I found a long term goal or two worth pursuing… and one of those was to create and release 10 albums in 10 years.
However, putting out music for my own posterity and legacy isn’t the real goal. The real goal is to share something I think could help others. I endeavor to make music that encourages people to learn more about themselves and their connection to other living things and the universe. To make music that helps people transform and grow. To write about concepts that uplift, ignite, examine, change, innovate, unite. To help people develop curiosity, compassion, and confidence. And I hope that setting an audacious goal inspires others to think big and achieve something that seems daunting.
I also remember my bleedin bandmates in Boston (Mike, Barry, and Matt) who commented on how I tended to take my time on music productions, as the perfectionist that I am desperately trying not to be. They called my snail’s pace “moving at the speed of Franz.” So, really this 10 albums in 10 years quest is to make those dudes finally shut up. :)
